I have a friend who bull rides
I know for a fact that the flank straps are not pulled tight and they are
not around the bulls nuts!
All they do is make the bull feel like it's wearing pants..and he want's
them off so he kicks like a S.O.B.
Also the rope the rider uses has a bell attached to further encourage the
bull to kick that noise off.
Sure the rope is tightened..but just like a horse..the bull "puffs" himself
up and then blows out when riding. Ropes don't hurt the bull...most all
ropes even have pads to prevent irritation for the 8 second ...only 8 second
or less ride!
Spurs the cowboys use are locked and filed dull and barely half inch, to
that the spurs don't move to loose the cowboys footing and dulled and short
so that the spurs DON'T pierce the bull.
Most Bull Riders are between 140-180 pounds which the bull can handle easily
on their backs....Spend any time in a bull pen and you'll see heated bulls
try to jump on each others backs!!! that almost 1000 pounds on their
back...and they have NO problem carrying that weight...
I wonder what a 1000 pound cowboy would look like?
Sure the Bulls get a few prods and slaps when not loading into the shutes
right and when their not looking out of the gate. But this feels to them
like any Mother tugging an ear of their son/daughter who needs a little
guidance.
Overall...Rodeo's love their animals...ask anyone who's a stock contractor
or participant. Without healthy happy animals...Rodeo's would never work!
Otherwise they'd graze on the pasture waiting for Slaughter house!!
Consider Rodeo animals the Lucky ones!
Mace....Dedicated Rodeo Fan..
I recommend anyone who hasn't ....go watch one! It's alot of fun!
